Richard Takyi Opoku is a lecturer and researcher with extensive academic experience, and he serves as the Vice President of Baobab Energy Research Centre (BERC). He specialises in resource and development finance and economics.
Prior to joining BER, he taught at a number of universities in Ghana, including the University of Professional Studies, Islamic University College, Ghana, and Knutsford University College, among others, where he taught students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
He has published several research articles in reputable journals around the world. His research interests encompass global energy and commodity trade; economic stability in Africa; resource financing for sustainable growth; corporate governance; and development finance.
Richard holds a PhD degree in finance from the University of Cape Coast with a focus on global energy and commodity prices and their implications for economic stability in Africa.In addition, he holds an MPhil degree in finance from the University of Ghana and a BSc in accounting from the University of Professional Studies, Accra. He is also a chartered financial economist.
